Isaac Thibodeau was born and raised in mid-coast, Maine, spending several years of his childhood in the town of Richmond. His mother was a second-generation Christian who taught him the faith and regularly brought him and his brother, Sam, to a baptist church in the town of Wiscasset. Isaac began believing and following Christ at the age of 5 and was baptized.
After some years of wandering and rebellion as a teenager, at the age of 16, the Lord renewed Isaac’s devotion and he began pursuing pastoral ministry a few years later. From the ages of 18 to 21, he was mentored by Pastor Joshua Lovelace at Truth Baptist Church in Jefferson, Maine, where he was given many opportunities to teach the Bible. During this time he attended and graduated from Faith Bible Institute.
In June of 2016, he met his wife, Michaela, and the two were wed in July of 2018. They then moved to Pensacola, Florida, so Michaela could finish the last two years of her nursing degree at Pensacola Christian College. It was while attending The Cross Church in Pensacola, under the leadership of Pastors Jon Mark Olesky and Kent Langham, that Isaac came to reformed baptist convictions and started pursuing ministry more seriously, with the specific goal of moving back to Maine and planting a church.
When Isaac’s wife graduated, they moved back to Maine to help New City Church in Bath with their newly-formed youth group. Isaac was discipled by Pastors Joel Littlefield, Eric O’Donnell, and Mark Thibodeau, went through a pastoral-candidacy in 2021, and was installed as one of the pastors of New City in January 2022.
In 2023, he began working with NAMB / SEND Network in preparation for planting a church in the Richmond area. In March 2024, he was endorsed as a church planter and began gathering a core team from New City Church in order to plant Redeemer Fellowship in the Fall of 2025.
Isaac and Michaela have two children: Acadia and Knox, whom they love and enjoy very much. Isaac works for Progressive Insurance as a commercial claims adjuster and enjoys leather working, writing hymns, reading books, and spending time with friends and family.
